ITAN returns Olufuye as President
At the recent AGM of ITAN held in Kano, in conjunction with the Information Technology Public Private Forum (ITPPF), Dr Jimson Olufuye was returned as the President of the Information Technology (Industry) Association of Nigeria for another two years. Also returned were the Secretary General – Mr Yz Yau CEO Cybertec Ltd, the Publicity Secretary Mr Olu Joseph CEO Sephix Ltd, Treasurer, Engr Ola Akinyemi CEO Omar Ventures Ltd, and Ex-Officio Mr Chris Uwaje. Newly elected members are Engr (Mrs) Florence Seriki CEO Omatek Computers Ltd, 1st Vice President, Mr Tunji Balogun CEO Brian Computers Ltd, 2nd Vice President, Mr Sagir Mohammad CEO Intersystem Computer Services, Financial Secretary, Mr Biyi Fashoyin, Asst Publicity Secretary, Mr Matthias Ifesieh, Asst Secretary General, Mr Andrew Okonye, Asst Financial Secretary, and Mr Amos Emmanuel, Ex-Officio. Dr Olufuye’s first term saw Nigeria admitted into the World Information Technology and Services Alliance (WITSA) on December 1, 2008 culminating in the visit to Nigeria in April of the Chairman of WITSA, Dato’ Dan E. Khoo. He engendered the inauguration of the Information Technology Public Private Forum of IT administrators/CEOs in the Public and the Private sectors to synergise for focused ICT enabled national development. He had earlier mobilised for increased IT Penetration into primary and secondary schools through the OSPC scheme. Dr Olufuye is the CEO of Kontemporary Konsulting Ltd. The highly elated new executives pledged to join hands with the president to promote the objectives of the association in particular and the progress of ICT in Nigeria in general. The tenure of these executives is 2years as provided by the association’s constitution. The 2nd Vice President of the Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) Mr Sam Juwe was on hand to witness the event.
