From June 5-7, the World Tech Jam, will kick-start the WCIT 2012 Congress activities. After the swearing in ceremony of the new National Executive Council, the board proceeded on a courtesy visit to the Hon. Minister of Communication Technology, Mrs. Omobola Johnson. This visit was a part of the strategy developed by the new board to visit all the necessary parastatals and government agencies to develop cordial relationships with them for the growth of the industry.
The ITAN President, Engr. (Mrs.) Seriki intimated the Minister with the plans made by the NEC on how to strengthen the association and the industry. She also spoke on ITAN’s willingness to work with the Ministry to develop policies that will lead to sustainable growth within the ICT industry.

On the15th of December, 2011, the Information Technology (Industry) Association of Nigeria (ITAN) held a swearing in ceremony for its newly elected National Executive Council (NEC) at the Dennis Hotel, Wuse II, Abuja. The new NEC was elected by open ballot during the annual general meeting of the association that took place on the 24th of November, 2011.

The Information Technology (Industry) Association of Nigeria (ITAN) and Association of Telecommunication Companies of Nigeria (ATCON) recently concluded a 3 day training workshop for journalists that focused on the equipping them with skills for IT based journalism. This training programme is the second in a series organized by ITAN and ATCON, the first of which took place in Lagos from 1st – 3rd September, 2011. This part of the series was hosted in collaboration with the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) and with the support of the Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) and the Institute of Software Practitioner of Nigeria (ISPON).

At the just concluded 2011 Annual General Meeting of the Information Technology (Industry) Association of Nigeria (ITAN), Mrs. Florence Seriki, CEO of Omatek Computers was elected as the 6th President of the Association. Also, the new Constitution was approved by consensus at the AGM.
The AGM which took place at the Transcorp Hilton in Abuja, on the 24th of November, 2011 was the perfect opportunity to hand over the mantle of leadership of the Association after four years of visionary leadership by the Immediate Past President (IPP), Dr. Jimson Olufuye and his National Executive Council. Dr. Olufuye who took over as President at the 2007 AGM served for two terms and was able to lead the Association to international spotlight through various steps which include making ITAN a member and the regional secretariat of the World Information Technology and Services Alliance (WITSA) as well as hosting the IT CEOs Summits in collaboration with NASSCOM, India.
