| The driving force of the information age is the composite stream of applied technologies (Information and Communications) known as Information Technology (IT). It is the engine of modern civilization. The higher a nation or people are in IT pedestal, the more developed the people are in terms of wealth, living standard, know-how and dominance of the world within and without.

This part of the series was hosted in collaboration with the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) and with the support of the Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) and the Institute of Software Practitioner of Nigeria (ISPON). The training took off on the 7th of December, 2011 and was attended by journalists and reporters from major media houses such as the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Aso FM/Radio Nigeria, MITV, Daily Trust Newspaper, Nigerian Tribune, among others.
Areas covered during the course of the course of the training include current global trends in ICT, cybersecurity, word processing, photo & graphic editing, blogging and web design. The underlying purpose of the training was to help increase the amount of locally developed content and information on the internet by providing journalists, who are on the frontline of information dissemination, with the right tools to work as effectively online as they do in their regular broadcast media.
