The Journalists IT Skills Acquisition Course (JITSAC) is an initiative of ITAN and ATCON in collaboration with the National Information Technology Development Agency under the auspices of the Ministry of Communication Technology. The initiative also has the support of the Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) and the Institute of Software Practitiones of Nigeria (ISPON).
The objective of the training is to empower IT Journalists to have the requisite skills to 1. Conduct basic desktop research using the Internet for accuracy of reporting
Journalists in other fields are qualified to particpate in the event. Interested Journalists are expected to complete an on-line form to be evaluated to participate in the training series which began in August 2011 in Lagos. The second series (batch of twenty) was recenctly concluded at Abuja (see here). The next series comes up in 2012.
