A 1-DAY IT CONSULTATIVE FORUM

Theme: "Enhancing IT Penetration in Nigeria – Imperative for IT in the Grassroots”.

Knowing fully well that a high percentage of our population (more than 50%) resides in the rural areas and face the possibility of remaining digitally divided by the year 2020; ITAN with passionate commitment is committed to getting the rural communities connected to the digital world through mass mobilization and advocacy. It is in this regard that ITAN is organizing EITPiN 2008, a 1-Day IT Consultative Forum to strategise on effective deployment of Information Technology Infrastructure and tools in the Grassroots ie in the rural communities and areas that are digitally cut-off.

A major interest group in the Nigeria Computer Society (NCS), ITAN is the industry voice of Information Technology solution providers in Nigeria. Established in 1991, ITAN has made outstanding contributions to IT development in Nigeria culminating in the development of the National IT Policy in 2001, the establishment of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) in 2001, the creation of the Nigeria Computer Society in 2002, the emergence of robust local PC manufacturing in Nigeria and recent passage of the NITDA Act 2007 and is currently pushing for IT Penetration in the rural communities.
