Members of the Information Technology Association of Nigeria, ITAN has assured of introducing strategies to fast-track ICT deployment in the country.
This includes promotion of standard IT products to the market among others.
President of ITAN and Chief Executive Officer of Omatek Computers, Engr. (Mrs.) Florence Seriki (mfr) said on Thursday in Abuja during the swearing in of the new council members of the association that they are determined to promote IT literacy and penetration in Nigeria. The group is worried at the level of IT penetration in the country but pledged commitment to pursue with vigor and accomplish an information society using diverse and cutting-edge tools and means. “The new ITAN will work with both federal and state governments to make ICT a major tool for economic development in the country,” Seriki said. ITAN also plan to get the ministry and government work on structured database of all citizens that will enhance the use of ICT as a major economic development tool to solving the majority of problems. Job creation in the IT sector will be prioritized by the group.
